Learn how to sell successfully with these quick sales tips
It really doesn’t take too much effort to learn how to sell successfully. You only need to know what to do, when to do it, and make sure you actually do it with confidence.
Here is what I do daily to ensure I sell effortlessly and successfully
Set objectives – Creating SMART objectives is THE best way to turn your goals into reality. Check this blog post out if you want to know more about SMART goals.
Use a diary – Now we all have a diary, but most people don’t use it very effectively. Don’t just put your meetings in there, pop all your sales activity in there too. You need to diarise time to sell, so if you need to make some telesales calls then block out an hour in advance to do them.
Take regular breaks – Taking a break from the daily grind is important to ensure you are selling effectively. However, don’t use this as an excuse not to get your work done. Try rewarding yourself with a break for achieving some kind sales activity.
Maintain a to do list – I update this every day and make sure I am literally crossing each completed task off the list as I do them. This is a great way to stay motivated, especially when carrying out difficult tasks.
Watch your time – Always keep half an eye on the clock. If you are with a client, make sure you don’t overstay your welcome. Stay too long and you are also missing out on more valuable selling time too.
Make notes – Always make notes before, during and after speaking or conversing with a client. The brain is an amazing organ, but it can’t remember everything!
Use positive affirmations – Never under estimate the power of positivity. Simply saying out loud what you want to achieve, will vastly increase your chances of getting it. It works for sports people, and it will work on a daily basis for you.
Break bad habits to know how to sell successfully
It takes 30 days to break a habit and create a new one. There is science to support this as it has a lot to do with creating new pathways in your brain to form different habits. One these pathways have been formed then the habit will become quite natural.
I have been selling a long time, which is why I appear very natural and relaxed when I am selling. When you start doing the right sales activities at the right time, you will find that your approach to selling will become very natural too.
So start off with these good habits and once you have nailed the first 30 days, then add more. Before you know it you too will be selling effortlessly, without coming across as too pushy!

Hi Susan
great tips. Thank you for sharing. I love the bit about positive affirmations as I really do think this helps and makes a difference in all parts of your life.
Debs
Am pleased you like the post Debs. I have always kind of used positive affirmations without realising what I was doing. I am such a firm believer in using them now on a daily basis.
Good tips Susan, thank you.
Thanks Gillian. I am pleased you like them!
Great tips Susan, regarding the neural pathways once they are there they will never go away, they may weaken but never disappear completely which is why people revert back to old habits, hence it’s easier to develop a new habit than it is to break an old one
Thanks for explaining that a lot better than I did Mike. This is why investing in a mentor or coach is so worthwhile as they keep you focused on keeping the new habits.
Really simple and doable but so effective. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Shridevi and I am delighted you find them really effective!
