My top sales tips to start a new week with the right
mindset to sell successfully
Today is my first full day in the office after a very long vacation. It can be a tough day for anyone who has had a long break from the day to day tasks we would normally find easy to do. For sales people, it can be even a little bit harder to turn the day around and make it a successful one.
I don’t know about you, but I actually enjoy the first day back. It is a bit like the first day back at school as I get the chance to start using any work type presents and try out some new techniques that I thought of over the break.
However, there is always three things I do on my first day back that get me excited to be back behind the desk and not dread it.
The three top tips to start my week with a bang!
Tip Number 1
Firstly, I do my very best to start as I mean to go on. So even though I will be in the office most of today, I will be dressed and presented as if I were meeting a client. Usually my office clothes consist of throwing on a comfy pair of jeans and mismatching jumper. However, the first day back behind my little wheel of industry is when I am most motivated to make a big impact on the world, so I want to make sure I look and feel like a winner.
Tip Number 2
First day back also means a new notebook and I like to choose something that stands out. Whether it is motivational with a famous quote on the front, or plain silly, I want to make sure that I will smile every time I see it. I did try using my iPad as a tool for making notes, but for me nothing beats pen and paper. The added benefit is that the information contained is more likely to be remembered as you type up your notes into CRM. The only problem is that my writing hasn’t got any easier to read so I tend to do it straight after my meeting before I forget.
Tip Number 3
Lastly and probably most importantly, I change my office slightly and make sure I have a picture on the wall or somewhere easily visible from my desk of my goal for the year. It might be the financial target I have set myself, or a picture of a holiday destination that I want to visit. It doesn’t really matter what it is, but you will find it invaluable to make your goals visible. Not only to remind you of why you do what you do and keep you focused on doing the right thing at the right time, but it will also increase your chances of achieving your goal.
I would love to hear what you do on your first day back at work and how effective you find it is. Keeping motivated to sell is hard, but with a few simple tactics it really is a lot easier than you think.
However being prepared for success is key too, so if you are not sure what to say and do then grab your free sales process template below. Print it off and complete every page to help you know exactly what you need to say and do to sell successfully too.
Good Luck for your first day back and Happy Selling!
Thanks for sharing … love the idea of a picture that represents my goal up in the office!
I’m glad you like the idea of a picture in the office. I have the usual goals like holiday destination, car etc, but I also have one of my husband and my dog to remind me why I do what I do!
Susan how interesting how you approach going back to work! I admit, I am fond of a new planner too. I have a lovely new glitter-gold lined notebook, which I adore and I am in the process of re-feng-shuing my office right now. It’s nearly there, not quite! I do like you have things on the wall that inspire me, to keep going too:) Happy new year Susan, wishing you a wonderfully happy, healthy + prosperous 2019! 🙂
Thanks Carrie. Who doesn’t love a new notebook at the start of the year.
Happy New Year to you too!
I love the idea of putting a picture to remind you of your goal on the wall in front of you, I think I shall have to do that! Thanks Susan, fantastic advice as always!
You are most welcome Esther. The picture on the wall is a great way of keeping focused on what you need to do, by reminding you of your why.
